Purple Heart returned to WWII veteran's daughter
The state of Illinois has returned a Purple Heart medal to the daughter of a Marine who was wounded in the invasion of Saipan during World War II.
Wounded in the shoulder and ordered to retire from combat, Pfc. Delbert Tuttle refused to leave his fellow U.S. Marines as his unit invaded the Japanese-held island of Saipan during World War II.
